Description
The Mojito is a traditional Cuban cocktail that has become popular worldwide. It is known for its refreshing and zesty flavor, making it a perfect drink for hot weather. Here’s a classic recipe for making a Mojito:
Ingredients:
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
- 2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 1/2 ounces white rum
- 1/2 cup club soda
Instructions:
- Muddle the Mint and Lime:
- Place mint leaves and one lime wedge into a sturdy glass.
- Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
- Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice.
- Do not strain the mixture.
- Add Ice and Rum:
- Fill the glass almost to the top with ice cubes.
- Pour the rum over the ice.
- Top with Club Soda:
- Add club soda to the glass.
- Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
- Serve with a straw.
Tips for a Perfect Mojito:
- Mint: Use fresh mint for the best flavor. Spearmint is the traditional variety used in mojitos.
- Lime: Fresh lime juice is essential. Avoid bottled lime juice as it doesn’t provide the same freshness.
- Rum: White rum is typically used in mojitos. Choose a good quality rum for a smoother taste.
- Sweetener: Adjust the amount of sugar to your taste. Some recipes call for simple syrup instead of granulated sugar.
- Club Soda: Add just enough club soda to taste. The soda adds a bit of fizziness to the drink.
